ABOUT US
Founded by Royal Academy Schools graduate Matt Ager, M-A Studios has designed each lighting sconce as a sculpture — one that happens to emit light. Every design begins as an original artwork. They have been developed through making using high end materials and construction methods. His practice is grounded in form, material, and architecture. He brings a sculptor’s understanding of volume, balance, and surface to the design of this lighting collection.
The lights retain the integrity of original artworks having being refined for architectural integration.
All M-A Studios works are handmade using certified hardwood. Each piece is individually crafted and finished. Variations in grain, tone, and texture are embraced, ensuring that no two lights are the same. The lights provide soft, controlled illumination while functioning as quiet sculptural elements within the space. M-A Studios sits at the intersection of sculpture, art, and lighting design offering objects that feel intentional, tactile, and enduring.
Matt Ager studied at Camberwell College and art, The Royal Academy schools, London. He has completed residencies at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Yaddo and the Anderson Ranch, Aspen.
